Fixes to try, in order
- In Discord, open User Settings, then Connections, and make sure Spotify is connected with "Display Spotify as your status" switched on. Switch it off and on again.
- Open Activity Privacy in Discord’s settings and make sure "Share your detected activity with others" is on. If your status is Invisible, nothing shows.
- In Spotify, turn off Private Session, which hides your listening.
- Close both apps completely, including from the system tray, then start Discord first and Spotify second.
- Update the Spotify and Discord desktop apps. Old versions are a common cause.
- Run both apps the same way. If one is started as administrator and the other is not, they cannot see each other.
Still nothing?
If you play a game, Discord shows the game first and may hide Spotify. You can show more than one activity in a profile, but a game usually takes the top spot.
Want the lyrics, not just the title?
Discord’s own Spotify status shows the song and artist only. Statusong adds a card with the live lyric line, using Discord’s Rich Presence. It reads the song from Windows, so it also works while Discord’s Spotify link is being difficult.
Questions
Why does Discord only show the song name?
That is all the built-in Spotify connection sends. Lyrics need an extra tool such as Statusong.
Does Statusong need my Spotify login?
No. It reads the playing song from Windows.
