Guide

How to put lyrics on your Discord status

You can do this in about a minute on Windows. No coding, no logging in to Spotify, and no keys to copy. This guide walks through it step by step.

What you need

  • A Windows 10 or 11 PC
  • The Discord desktop app
  • Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes or a music site in your browser
  • Statusong (free), and Pro ($7, once) for the Discord part

Step by step

  1. Download Statusong and install it. It opens in the system tray and starts with Windows.
  2. Open the app and pick your music player in the first step.
  3. Play any song. The lyric appears in the Statusong window, synced to the music.
  4. Open the Connect section and choose how it should appear on Discord: the activity card (recommended) or the custom status line.
  5. Allow Discord when asked, and keep the Discord desktop app open.
  6. Check your profile from another account or a friend’s view. The lyric now follows the song.

Make it yours

Pro lets you turn on word-by-word glow, choose from 19 word effects, switch to a lyrics-only view for streams, change the background, and set the emoji that appears in front of each line.

If something does not show

Make sure the Discord desktop app is running, that Statusong is allowed, and that the song has synced lyrics. The in-app setup walks you through each check.
